The best time for Berlin is May to September: long light evenings, beer gardens, open-air cinemas, lakes for swimming and street festivals in almost every neighbourhood.
April and October work well if you don't mind changeable weather. From November to February we honestly advise against it: it is grey, cold and wet, and it gets dark around half past four.
The exception is the stretch from late November until just before Christmas, when the Christmas markets are lit up.

Berlin's nightlife is spread across many neighbourhoods. Here is a rough guide to where it's worth heading in the evening.
Around the RAW site on Revaler Strasse and the Simon-Dach-Kiez, clubs, bars and pubs sit side by side. At weekends things keep going until morning, and the crowd is young.
Between Kottbusser Tor, Oranienstrasse and Schlesisches Tor you'll find a mix of corner pubs, cocktail bars and small music venues. Kreuzberg is loud, colourful and easy-going.
In the Reuterkiez and around Weserstrasse, lots of small bars have opened, often with art, live music or table football. Prices are usually still friendly.
Along Torstrasse and around Rosenthaler Platz things are a little more polished, with cocktail bars, restaurants and clubs where booking ahead is a good idea.
Around Kastanienallee and the Kulturbrauerei, evenings are more relaxed: wine bars, pubs and stages for concerts and readings.

District office (German)Berlin is not a city you can see in one weekend. Between Museum Island and Tempelhofer Feld, between the Philharmonie and a night at a club, lie whole worlds, and each of the twelve districts has its own rhythm.
On this page we collect what is happening today and over the next few days. Every event is checked individually: date, time, venue and link lead straight to the organiser or the ticket shop. The map adds sights and the major building projects that are changing the face of the city.
